Text / EPUB to PDF
Convert a TXT or EPUB file into a clean, paginated PDF document.
Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.
What Text / EPUB to PDF does
Text / EPUB to PDF turns a plain text file or an EPUB e-book into a paginated PDF. The text is reflowed into paragraphs, wrapped to the page width, and split across as many A4 or US Letter pages as it needs.
It is useful for sharing a manuscript with someone who wants a printable file, archiving notes in a format that opens anywhere, or reading a plain-text export on devices that handle PDFs better than ePubs.
Both formats stay on your machine: TXT files are read directly and EPUBs are unpacked in the browser with JSZip. The layout is deliberately plain — one built-in font, simple margins — so the same input always produces the same readable output.
How to use Text / EPUB to PDF
- Drop a TXT or EPUB file onto the dropzone.
- Choose the page size: A4 or Letter.
- Set the font size (7–24, default 11).
- Optionally type a Title — it is printed in bold at the top of the first page.
- Click Convert to PDF; the result card reports the page count and file size, then download it.
Features
- Converts plain .txt files and .epub e-books.
- EPUBs are unpacked locally with JSZip: all .html/.xhtml chapters are read in filename order and their text is extracted.
- Predictable layout: optional bold title, word-wrapped paragraphs, 56 pt margins and generous line spacing.
- A4 and US Letter pages with font size control from 7 to 24.
- Basic Latin text is supported; other characters are replaced with “?” so the PDF always renders.
- Runs in the browser with pdf-lib; nothing is uploaded.
Tips and common mistakes
- Give the conversion a title; it becomes a bold heading and makes the finished PDF feel complete.
- For long books, convert chapter by chapter and join the parts with Merge PDF.
- TXT files are read as UTF-8 — save in that encoding to avoid garbled characters before the Latin-only filter applies.
Frequently asked questions
Which file types can I convert?
TXT and EPUB only. PDFs, Word documents and HTML files are not accepted — export them to text first if the text is what you need.
Why do accented or non-Latin characters appear as “?”
The converter uses Helvetica, a standard PDF font with basic Latin coverage, and replaces anything outside that range with a question mark. English text is unaffected; accents, curly quotes, em dashes and non-Latin scripts do not survive. Transliterate the file first if you need a printable copy of such text.
Does it keep images or formatting from an EPUB?
No. Only the text content of the chapters is extracted; images, tables, bold and italic styling and CSS layout are dropped. The result is a clean reading copy, not a faithful reproduction of the e-book.
How are EPUB chapters ordered?
By filename inside the EPUB archive. The usual numeric naming (chapter1.xhtml, chapter2.xhtml and so on) keeps the reading order; script and style elements are removed before the text is read.
Is there a length limit?
No fixed limit — the browser's memory and the rendering time set the practical ceiling. Very long books convert more comfortably in parts.
Does it add page numbers or a table of contents?
No. The output is plain pages with an optional title. Add numbering afterwards with PDF Page Numbers if the document needs it.
